Sabyasachi Mukherjee is a prominent Indian fashion designer from Kolkata whose fashion collection is stupendous. He is one among the Associate Designer Members of Fashion Design Council of India. He sells his collection with the label of ‘Sabyasachi’. Born in 1972 he is one of the most renowned designers and has his big role in Bollywood movies. He has designed for many of them like Guzaarish, Babul; no one killed jessica, paa, raavan, Laga Chunari Me Daag, English Vinglish and many others. His journey of being awarded for his work began when in 2001 he won the Most Outstanding Young Designers of India from the Femina British Council. This victory took him straight away to London for an internship.

Later in 2002 when he debuted at the India Fashion Week, he was named as the future of Indian fashion. His work and designs were appreciated by experts from all over the world. Not just India, in 2003 he debuted on the International platform via the ‘Grand Winner Award’ at the New Asia Fashion Week in Singapore. Sabyasachi Mukherjee won the Best Designer of India award by MTV Lycra Style Awards and also won the Society Achievers Award for the best new Indian designer because of his exclusive fashion collection. His designs reflect the images of ancient and medieval ages. He describes his collection as the international styling with Indian soul.
In 2004 he participated in the Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week and the Miami Fashion Week and made India proud. He won the most promising young designers award. Not just this he has a long list of achievements. According to a Singapore based business magazine, he was among the top ten most influential Indians in Asia. He established himself as a great designer with Indian tradition that he was the only fashion designer from India who was invited to showcase his collection at the Milan Fashion Week in 2004. His collections were widely accepted in London and other foreign states.
Impressed by his art work, Sabyasachi Mukherjee was requested to display his collections at the Oxford University Annual black tie charity dinner fashion show. After this, he debuted at the New York Fashion Week in 2006 where his fashion collection gave the essence of modern architecture and simplicity. His next success was when he debuted at the Cannes Film Festival in 2011. Recently, he has designed a calendar in which Neha Dhupia could be seen in the look of the renowned painter Frida Kahlo. Models wore Frida Kahlo’s designer headbands and glasses at the grand finale of WIFW Autumn-Winter 2011.
Not only in the Fashion shows, in 2005 Sabyasachi Mukherjee has also contributed to the bollywood films by designing outfits for the director Sanjay Lela Bhansali in one of his greatest films ‘Black’, where he won the National Award for the best costume designer for a feature film. He also designed the Sarees for Vidya Balan’s wedding, a Bollywood actress. His list of celebrities also includes Rani Mukherjee, Aishwariya Rai Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor, Tabu, Shusmita Sen, Rene Zelleweger, Resse Witherspoon and many other Indian and international stars.
