TIE AND DYE CRAFT

Tie and dye textiles called Bandhej or Bandhani craft. Different methods are used to tie the fabric into small points and produce various patterns like lahriya, mothda, ekdali. Bandhej comes from Sikar, Barmer, Pali, Udaipur and Nathdwara.

IT is very unique technique to crate various effects or pattern on fabric. In this the fabric is tied into small points with threads and when dyed the knotted parts remain uncoloured more intricate designs are tied and dyed servel times for each colour.

Different methods produce different patterns lahriya consist of diagonal stripes, motheda is chequrred, ekdali has small circles, clusters of threes and squares; clusters of three, four or seven dotes are called tikunti chaubandi and satbandi. Mostly designs developed related to human figures and animal

Mostly designs develop in laddu and jalebi pattern and multi-colour squares in multi colours the best bandhni comes from sikar and Jodhpur.

Tie and dye is light to dark colour process on fabric in which we can play through dyes on fabric.IT is called bandhni we can give many textural effects by tie and dye.

For giving this effect first tied fabric should dip into dye and again re tie tucking save of the colored area repeat dyeing in step by step according requirement of shades. Release the tie under running water runs clear and then hang to dry this technique can be applied on every type of fabric by suitable dyes according to fabric.

Many of designers launching their collection by inspiring this craft. Many products are made using tie and dye technique and create very beautiful dress materials like kurtis, suite pieces, and saris. This is process to create different patterns by folding tying, stitching, crumping within tie and dye it is possible to create wide range of designs, patterns and textures.

Ikat is also method of tie and dyeing the warp or weft before the cloth is woven.
